How to Clean Vinyl Siding
Here’s what you’ll need
to get the job done:
- Bucket
- Garden hose
- Soft bristle brush or pressure washer
- And Oil Eater® Cleaner Degreaser
Vinyl siding is a popular choice due to its durability and resilience. It’s made to withstand the elements, but after a few seasons it can start to look dirty and dull. You can increase your curb appeal and extend the life of your vinyl by removing mold, mildew and every day dirt with a simple cleaning routine. Oil Eater® Cleaner & Degreaser is a powerfully concentrated formula that will liven up your vinyl without harming the environment. It’s completely biodegradable, non-toxic and non-corrosive. And it couldn’t be easier to use.
Here’s what you’ll need to get the job done:
- Bucket
- Garden hose
- Soft bristle brush or pressure washer
- And Oil Eater® Cleaner Degreaser
If you’re using a brush:
First, fill a bucket with a 10:1 mixture of water and Oil Eater® Cleaner Degreaser.
Then hose down the section of siding you’ll be cleaning.
Now scrub the siding from top to bottom with the cleaning mixture, using enough pressure to clean without damaging the surface of the siding.
And finally, rinse the siding well with water before the cleaning mixture dries. Working in sections, repeat these steps until the job is done.
If you’re using a pressure washer:
Before you start, cover any nearby landscaping that could be damaged by the pressure washer. We also recommend wearing safety goggles whenever using a pressure washer. As always be sure to follow all of the safety and use instructions from your pressure washer manual.
First, prepare your pressure washer by filling your pressure washer chemical tank (if equipped) with Oil Eater® Cleaner Degreaser, being sure to dilute with water per your manufacturer’s directions. If no dilution instructions are available, use 10 parts water to 1 part cleaner as a starting point. If your pressure washer does not have a chemical tank, apply the cleaner to the surface being cleaned using a garden spray tank and a dilution ratio of 10:1.
Next, wet the section of siding you’ll be cleaning with water.
Now apply Oil Eater® using a low pressure setting and a 25-40 degree nozzle tip. Spray the siding in a downward angle from bottom to top to keep the surface wet. Stay at least 18 inches from the surface so you don’t force water behind the siding. And be sure to take care when cleaning around openings like windows, doors and plumbing connections.
Rinse using the pressure washer “water only” setting, moving from top to bottom before the product dries on the siding. Work in small sections and never allow the cleaner to dry without rinsing. Repeat in sections until you’re finished.
