The carpet and mats in your car don’t get much love. Muddy shoes, dirt and gravel, and the occasional spilled coffee make sure of that. But if you treat your carpet and mats the way they deserve, it can make your car’s interior seem brand new. Care for your car mats and car carpet with Oil Eater® All-Purpose Cleaner and Oil Eater® Cleaner Degreaser. They’re non-toxic cleaners that are powerful, easy to use and completely biodegradable. What’s not to love?

Here’s what you’ll need to get the job done:

  • Bucket
  • Water
  • Clean towels
  • Car vacuum
  • Soft nylon brush
  • Carpet cleaning machine (optional)
  • Oil Eater® All Purpose Cleaner (if cleaning manually) or Oil Eater® Cleaner Degreaser (if using a carpet cleaning machine)

Here’s what to do:

Before you start, vacuum thoroughly and blot up any freshly spilled liquid.

To spot clean:

Use the towel to dampen the stain with clean water.

Spray the stain with Oil Eater® All-Purpose Cleaner and let it soak in for a few minutes.

Blot up the cleaner with a clean, damp towel. Then rinse by blotting with clean water again.

Let the carpet or mat air dry, propping your car doors open if possible to help the air circulate. Repeat if necessary.

For stubborn stains apply Oil Eater® All Purpose Cleaner directly to the carpet or mat and scrub with a stiff bristled brush. Blot up the cleaner with a clean, dry towel. Repeat as needed.

If you’re using a carpet cleaning machine:

Prepare your carpet cleaning machine by filling its chemical tank (if equipped) with Oil Eater® Cleaner Degreaser, being sure to dilute with water per your manufacturer’s directions. If no dilution instructions are available, use 10 parts water to 1 part cleaner as a starting point. If your machine does not have a chemical tank, apply the cleaner to the surface being cleaned using a trigger sprayer at a dilution ratio of 10:1.

Apply the cleaning solution in sections, and gently scrub with a soft nylon brush.

Extract the cleaning solution with the carpet cleaner and clean water.

Let the carpet or mats air dry, propping your car doors open if possible to help the air circulate. Repeat if necessary.
